More About Me

My Experiences

I have worked in Academic Cancer Research since 1979, was on faculty by 1992 and obtained $40M of federal, state and foundation awards to support research.  I was the scientific founder of Protea Biosciences in 2001, which went public (OTC, Pink Sheet) around 2010, employed 50 people and ultimately was absorbed by another company.  I was the sole board member of BioArkive and assisted the company in early growth until it was acquired through Merger & Acquisition by Immuneering, Inc.  I am currently an advisor consultant to 3 independent startup companies in the biotech and clinical services space.
As Vice President of Research, I oversee Entrepreneurship programs, Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and Office of Technology Transfer, and have actively participated in I-CORP programs, thus, I have strong familiarity with the responsibilities and processes of startup company development and Intellectual Property Development.
